Change in Philosophy: Making Montessori Physical Education More Accessible

It’s hard to believe how much time has passed since I first put Montessori Physical Education on the web. What began as a small, niche project has grown into something much bigger. It's hard to imagine all the people who have visited the site. Over the years, more than five thousand people from all corners of the globe have downloaded lessons, and this year alone, 25,000 people visited the site to read blog posts or explore the lessons. It’s truly humbling, and I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has taken the time to read my work and engage with the content.

Despite this growth, one thing has always been on my mind: I want more people to use these lessons. I believe deeply in the Montessori method, so much so that I wanted to integrate it into teaching physical education. I’m confident these lessons are among the best ways to engage children in meaningful, active learning. So, how do I get more people to use them? The dilemma I’ve faced is balancing two things that feel equally important to me: ensuring everyone has access to these lessons and receiving fair compensation for the time, effort, and creativity I put into them.

The Old Model: Static Bundles and Static Prices

When I first launched the lessons, I offered them in large, static bundles. These volumes contained over thirty lessons each, but over time, I realized they came with a significant drawback: they were cumbersome to update. Editing massive documents for each bundle was a logistical nightmare. I want to offer more flexibility—both for me as a creator and for you, the teachers.

So, I shifted to a subscription model, which allowed members to download everything and access video tutorials (which now number almost thirty!). I also offered an a la carte option, where individual lessons could be purchased based on specific themes. At the time, I felt good about this approach because it met people where they were regarding affordability and allowed more people to explore the lessons. But, like anything, I realized there was still room for improvement.

A Change in Philosophy: Prioritizing Acces

Reflecting on the feedback I’ve received and the site's ongoing growth, I’ve realized that my priorities have evolved. I want to err on the side of making these lessons as accessible as possible while still respecting the value of the time and effort I put into creating them. I want you to use these lessons with your students—I believe so strongly in the potential of these games and activities to positively impact children. That’s where my shift in thinking comes in.

Starting in late January, I’m making some changes to the website's structure. My goal is to make it easier and more affordable for you to get the content you need while still maintaining a fair balance for the effort I put in behind the scenes.

What’s Changing?

A significant change is that I’m discontinuing the large lesson bundles. They made it harder for me to make quick updates and, frankly, hard for you to use them to their fullest potential. Instead, I’m introducing a tiered membership system to give you flexibility and value.

Here’s what’s changing:

  1. Monthly Subscription: For just $25 a month, you can access the entire library of lessons and video tutorials in their most up-to-date form. This means you can download and use any lesson you need during your subscription period. Before your month is up, I encourage you to download everything. I genuinely believe that when children experience these activities, they will love them, and that’s what matters most.

  2. Annual Subscription: For $50, you’ll get access to the full library of lessons and videos for an entire year at half the price of the previous yearly subscription model. This means you’ll have all the lessons you need for the school year, along with any updates or new lessons I've created throughout the year. This option is ideal for long-term access without worrying about monthly renewals.

  3. Lifetime Access: I know some people are simply tired of subscriptions altogether, and that’s completely understandable. For those who want a one-time purchase, I’m offering lifetime access to the Member's Area for $250. With this option, you will have permanent access to the most current version of every lesson, plus any new lessons and videos that are added to the site moving forward.

What About Current Members?

If you’re already a member, don’t worry! I’m not leaving you behind. As a thank you for being an early adopter and supporting the project, all current members will be grandfathered into the Lifetime Membership. This is my way of saying thank you for your trust and support over the years.

Why the Change?

I want to make these lessons more accessible to more people. I want teachers, PE instructors, and anyone working with children to have easy access to these Montessori-inspired physical education lessons, regardless of their budget. At the same time, I need to make sure that the effort and time I put into creating and updating this content is fairly compensated. However, as a business model, I would rather have four people join the monthly subscription than just one person from the old price plan. Ultimately, it means that more kids learn while playing in this integrated PE system.

The new subscription and pricing model strikes that balance—ensuring you can access high-quality, up-to-date lessons while allowing me to continue to improve and expand the site. I’m excited about this new chapter. I hope it makes it easier for you to introduce these games and activities into your physical education programs.

Thank you again for being part of this journey. I'm so grateful for your support and can’t wait to see how these changes help you teach and inspire the next generation of students!

Stay tuned for more details and how you can make the most of these new options!
